Fans for dogs - recommendations if you will

Post by Harrier »

Dear all,

I got the Caddy SWB for my push bikes, MTB & road, but also for my dogs.

With the dogs in mind I'm weighing up which would be better, the wind powered roof vents (are they noisy?) or a couple of 12v computer fans, sited in the bulkhead, one pushing air from the cab in, at the bottom and one extracting warm air at the top.

Your sage thoughts, or other suggestions, would be appreciated.

Cheers

I am lead to believe that the roof fans (wind powered ones) are noisy. The guys at my work who drive the transporters were over the moon when the new ones came without them fitted

There is a roof vent that works on Venturi principle, only when driving of course. Someone else was looking at fitting a PC fan in one for when the van was parked. These are a lot lower and quieter than rotating ones
I don't have any additional ventilation in mine, but I do have a mesh bulkhead. I’m thinking to fit a Motexian though and was thinking of fitting high and low vents in it. I’m not sure if I think fans are necessary so interested in what you decide
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is

The main reason for the idea of computer fans is the low noise, their 12v and only about £3 each.

I wouldn't be leaving the boys in the back when the van is parked, so not too worried about venting when static.

I'll do some homework over the next week or so and repost when I've decided.
