Need some help with electrical issue

Post by Haakona »

Hi everyone. I have some problems with the electrical on my 2008 Caddy Maxi 1.9.

The logfile from VCDS looks like this:
---------------------------------------
Address 16: Steering wheel Labels: 1K0-953-549-MY8.lbl
Part No SW: 1K0 953 549 BN HW: 1K0 953 549 BN
Component: J0527 752 0100
Coding: 0000012
Shop #: WSC 35110 377 08192
VCID: 7F5BFE7D6BF28E1F0B2-802A

4 Faults Found:
00576 - Terminal 15
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent
00883 - Ignition Switch (D) Terminal S
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent
00884 - Ignition Switch (D) Terminal X
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent
01744 - Ignition Switch Terminal P (D)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent
--------------------------------------
I have found part# 1K0 953 549 BN. That is a box close to the ignition switch, but not to sure that this is the box with error. Could it be the ignition switch itself?
Anyone had this error before and fixed it?

What problems are you experiencing?
I've seen this combination of faults many times but not noticeable faults on the vehicle.

Hi
The vehicle is working fine normally.
From time to time I have noticed that the radio shuts down when I shut down the engine, not removing the ignition key. Other times not.
Just want to prevent going into problems with the ignition.
Maybe this is error codes that could be ignored until some issus comes up?

The codes are usually related to wear in the ignition switch, this can often not be noticed in day to day use.
I've seen a case where this cropped up because a steering wheel control module had been fitted incorrectly. If yours has been altered, it might be worthwhile having a check to make sure all plugs are secure in the module, especially the ignition switch plug.

Hi Doc
Will remove the panels to check all connectors to the ignition switch and the connected boxes.
Thanks for answers.

Another issue in the logfile is the errorcodes for my Webasto heater:

To me it looks like the unit is dead.
I have checked all the fuses in the fusebox, none is bad.
Have anybody been seeing this issue earlier, and if: what was the cure?

Ok, so the fuel and battery level are not very big problems.
The no flame fault means the unit failed to fire up a number of times in succession.
The unit locked is related to the no flame, meaning it will not try to re-fire due to too many unsuccessful attempts.

There are instructions on the VCDS/Ross-Tech blog regarding unlocking the unit to test fire but this time of year you might not have low enough outside temperature for this.

doc do these have photocells same as oil burners ? it checks for flame but can get dirty from smoke and need cleaning in order for it to see the flame ? that bein the case removing it and cleaning it might get it back working again

The older ones are a sealed unit that cannot be disassembled. I've never had one apart but I can only assume the flame detection is either optical or temperature based.

Hi Doc.
Been checking the RossTech wiki, and found instructions for Audi, Touareg, Transporter and so on, but not for the Caddy.
Anyone know what value to put into witch A-channel to get this to work? (I don't want to make a wrong programming)

Hi.
Solved the issue on the heater by setting in a 1 in Adaptation Channel 042, then clear fault codes.
No new error codes came up. If there still is a problem I will get the error code when the outside temp is low enough.
Thanks for all help.

Hi Torpa.
Thanks for the info. Will try tomorrow to find the start command in VCDS.
