Hi folks.
I have a 1.6 tdi 2012. How do I find out if I have the cheat software installed in my van?

If your vehicle is affected, vw will send you a letter, even if you bought the van 2nd hand as I did. You’re under no obligation to have the fix done. I personally didn’t want it doing, so simply ignored their letter

Just had my van serviced at VW and again declined the cheat fix.

They confirmed that I (or any future owner of the van) can have the fix done for free at any time should I change my mind.

No worries mate. There’s lots of info on here, and also, I’ve heard, on Facebook regarding the fix and potential issues it can create -good and bad. It should allow you to make an informed decision weather or not to have it done.
One thing to be aware of though, sometimes, dealers are just doing it without asking if you take the van in, so if you decided not to have it done, but take it back to the dealers for anything, a note on the dashboard won’t go amiss
