Air con retrofit

Post by Caddycamper1989 »

I’ve read the old threads and gathered a parts list which is able to be fulfilled by a breakers in Doncaster.

Has anyone else had ago at this other than Tommyzoom? I literally cannot stand having the window open any longer

It's a big job, but well worth it this weather.
I'll help if I'm able...

Thank you!

I’ve just sent your list to the breakers to make sure I get everything.

Ours is a camper to so we are in it for hours on end and I have had to start wearing hearing protection on long journeys!! So I’m so up for it having it now!!

One question I did have is I take it the pulley is already in place in the engine to drive the belt for the pump?

Yes, on a 1.6 engine the pulley is in place.

So I gave in... the breakers was to far away for me to guarantee that the parts would be correct and I can’t find a breakers with an air con caddy nearby.

I’ve paid my deposit for a company called Alpinair to retrofit and OEM looming solution next week

What are the prices like to have one retrofitted? I've considered fitted it myself but it sounds like a big job

£1500 il dig out the photo, but they do a good job of making it look OEM.

We got our van on the cheap from easyJet £4000 for a 12 plate with 10k miles and have spent a lot converting it, so for me it was weighing up the cost vs what it would cost to trade in and start again

Yeah that's definitely worth it then.. I paid around £5k for my 12 plate and it had just under 100k on the clock!
