12v Cooler
Any suggestions for a 12v cooler I can use while travelling?. I've got a cigarette type outlet in the back of the Caddy but it has 2.1 amps max on it. Just need it to keep milk etc cool until I get to the destination.

Re: 12v Cooler
I use one of these. Works both mains and 12v car. So when we get ti the camp site it goes straight onto the the electric hook up.PaulC61 wrote:Any suggestions for a 12v cooler I can use while travelling?. I’ve got the Halfords one

Works great but only cools to 5° below ambient, you need a Waeco or similar to do better, ours is fine with cool blocks or frozen stuff in to help keep the temp down

If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is

Re: 12v Cooler
I was just given one for free after looking for a cheap one for an upcoming camping trip...I've not tested it yet but it's similar to this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Electric-Cold- ... x+electric

Re: 12v Cooler
Thanks for the suggestions, I'm going to check the fuse size for the 12v outlet and hopefully get a cooler next week.

Re: 12v Cooler
Bit of an update on the cooler front. Got one today from Aldi, 29 ltr with both 12v and 230v. Cools to 18c below ambient (as do most of the others). Gave it quick test run via the 230v plug and seemed to work fine. For £35 it seems a good buy.

That's a great buy. I've managed to wangle one through the company i work for, from Halfords for £65 including 240 volt lead.

Re: 12v Cooler
The cooler worked fine. As with most of these type of coolers the will only cool down to 18 degrees below ambient. For the next trip I’m going pipe some of the cold air from the centre console rear vents to the cooler intake to aid cooling.

Re: 12v Cooler
My free cooler I was given isn't great, so I've gone for the 40l halfords one with the aim of using it with some ice blocks.
They're on offer at the minute https://www.halfords.com/camping-leisur ... q=cool+box

Re: 12v Cooler
I picked up one from Lidl that can be mains or 12v, works fine but definitely best if you use ice packs too.

I have 2 of the aldi ones we use for camping, they are made by waeco/dometic so you know the quality is there and with a 3 year warranty you can't go wrong for 39.99!

Re: 12v Cooler
I've been eying up a Mobicool FR35, does anyone know of a cheaper 12V compressor fridge?
I've got solar installed, but I think the 110ah battery would be lucky to keep up with a thermoelectric jobby when the weather turns...

Re: 12v Cooler
I'm also in the market for a 12v coolbox... does anyone know if any of the above mentioned boxes can be stowed in a Maxi rear footwell? A hardwired 12v coolbox stowed in the footwell under/behind the passenger seat is the dream!?
