Standard A/C upgrade to dual-zone Climate Control?
Hi guys,
I’m looking at the possibility of upgrading my standard A/C to dual-zone Climate Control on my 2014 Maxi Life (the Mrs is always too hot/cold - basically the opposite to whatever I am!).
My question is; how easy is it? Is it simply a case of swapping out the control unit in the dash for a dual zone climate control one? Or are their other factors involved? Temp sensors, etc...?
Cheers!

The climate control air box behind the dash will need changing to go to dual zone.
Look for tommyzooom's photos of when he did his A/C retrofit to gauge the scale of the task of just swapping that.
Some extra sensors and the dual zone climate control panel will also need added but that's the easy part.

Re: Standard A/C upgrade to dual-zone Climate Control?
Hi Doc,
I have a complete VW Touran that I bought. I’m looking to change the dash and add the duel zone climate control. My van already has air con but it’s manual heater controls. Is this a lot of work to do or am I just as well changing the dash and forgetting about the duel zone?

For the sake of a few extra hours work and the price of a re-gas of your air conditioning I'd do it.

Doc, it’s as good as done. I will post pics of it and might be able to help someone else out if it’s not too complicated to explain. Cheers for the info.

Hi, can anyone point me in the right direction for the correct heater box for this upgrade? Having a look online but can’t tell which boxers support dual climate. Thank in advance

Re: Standard A/C upgrade to dual-zone Climate Control?
Hi, as I am planning to do the Touran dash swap my biggest concern is the climate control ....
Here is what they offer me. Is this a dual zone climate control ?
And if so I have to take the air box behind the dash with all the wires I guess ?

Hi, yes that’s correct you will need the air box and associated wiring (airbox to control unit & to sensors if you can get it). You will also need the air quality sensor that is behind the bulkhead inside the engine bay, again the loom if you can get it, or at minimum the connector so you can make up your own loom.
