Sirus Automotive Problem

Post by Sparky6911 »

Evening all,

After much deliberation and reading many glowing reports of Sirus Automotive to fit rear seats I was booked in on Friday to have them fitted,

The seats are brand new and look great however I've now had a chance to look closely at them and the workmanship and finishing can only be described as shoddy at best, feels like a rush job.

What do you think I should do about it as I've got a 5 hour round trip to get there, should I give them a chance to rectify or see I can get it sorted locally with Sirus covering the cost? Thoughts appreciated

The last two photos show a raw edge left from the original floor pan just covered with a piece of rubber edging trim, remember the seats were added to allow me to take the kids in the back.

Their solution to the raw edge

That certainly isn't the standard of work I've come to know Situs for.
Don't know what is going on there but the tone has changed quite a bit in recent years.
Their guy offered to have a meet there and then hasn't replied. The centre console armrests that were on eBay went from £90-£120-£200 in a short space of time. It's all very concerning and more so when I see this type of work being carried out.
Did you get the much coveted engineer's report with your install? If so, I'd be asking questions as to how they can certify those seatbelt points.
How is the rest of the work?

What a bag of sh*te that work is. Hope you have not paid for it. I thought that as so do many others that Sirus did a top job on these conversions. I would definitely be back there to get that lot sorted out with my list in hand of whats wrong. Why do some companies these days think that they can get away with unacceptable poor workmanship and not have any bad publicity about it? I put the question forward, would anyone else trust them with your seat conversion after seeing that?

No engineers report, just a certificate to say the work was carried out to a satisfactory standard by an approved vehicle conversion specialist.

I'm thinking of getting a DEKRA Expert independent vehicle inspection as I don't deem the seat belt mounting and the shard of metal safe.

I have also found details off their company directors so might get in touch with them directly

Will call Siruss on Monday to give them a chance to rectify, if no joy I'm also going to bring into question if they are fit to carry out disability conversions

The more I look the worse it gets, looked at the seat belt fixings from the underside along with the seat mounts, for the seat mounts there are no spreader plates at all which considering the middle seat seat belt is part of the seat is a problem.

As for the spreader plates for the seatbelt fixings this is what I found, not sure they would meet the 10 tonne specs required for this, hard to get a photo but it is barely touching the original body workImage

Yes as mentioned in my previous post about poor workmanship being unacceptable and bad publicity, this has probably put two people off already getting work done there.

I don't usually post problems but felt people should know about this as they charge a lot for the conversion and it certainly isn't up to standard.

Let's see what they say tomorrow and their suggestions to fix

It's appalling to see this standard of work especially as they convert/adapted vehicles for people with disabilities.

Are Russ and Simon still the directors or has it changed hands !!

Simon is still the director, Russ resigned in 2015,

I spoke to them this morning, they will no longer offer the inspection report just the certificate.

I've been asked to send an email detailing the problems which I'm composing with the help of a mechanical engineer.

I'll let you know their response

With this poor quality of work, is there any other company that offer this conversion?
