Engine conversion

Post by Celticrsmith »

I have a sdi. I like my caddy, just not the sdi. What can I replace it with? I’ve found someone who will do the conversion, just need to find the engine. I’d be happy to go 1.9tdi caddy for ease and time it up. Not looking for 300 bhp, just more like. Any suggestions?

Audi TT 1.8 worth looking into?
Or any of the golfs worth considering?

Thanks

You've found someone who will do what conversion, 1.8T? 2.0TFSI? TSI?
You're kinda governed by whatever the guy can do.

He can do any, r32 4wd if I want but can’t afford that. I’m wondering what were my options to replace the sdi with but I guess you’ve answered that.

Sounds like you're sorted, just pick whichever engine ticks the boxes for you.

The deciding factor is petrol or diesel.

If your happy with petrol then go mad with whatever as clearly economy isn't an issue. If it's a work van or you do big miles then just get a 1.9/2.0 tdi conversion and be happy with 2-3 times the power of the SDI.

A BKD 2.0 tdi or played with BLS 1.9 or ARL/ASZ 1.9 converted caddy is sufficient if your just doing van duties.

its down to cost/time a 1.9tdi requires a lot less rewiring than petrol

Celtic have you got someone in mind to sort the loom?

overboost seem like a popular place to get the looms sorted so its plug and play
