Anyone any experience?
Cellulose thinners doesnt touch it.
Any ideas on something that will but wont harm the original lacquer?
Ill flat it off before polishing if i have to but i dont want to thin the surrounding lacquer and end up being able to see the shadow of where it was.

Re: Removing painted signwriting
That is a tricky one, so much depends on the type of paint and preparation used for the signwriting. If the sign painter used automotive paint, and sanded under it to get good grip, you have very little chance of getting it off without damaging the underlying paint. Graffiti remover might work, but might also damage the base paint, so use with great caution and test on a spot where you can fix it if something bad happens. Depending on the size of the sign I would possibly scrape it off with a razor blade. It's a shame it's not a vinyl, that comes off easily with a little heat.

Ive been playing with a few things and found fireplace cleaner (sodium hydroxide) softens it then it polishes of ok. The white comes off easier than the black.
I have arranged to borrow a proper mop so im confident it will come off fine.
