Touran bases - Simple question

Post by scooby8272 »

I’ve just got some Touran bases for some New seats.
Question is this

When you remove the old caddy seats do you remove the seat and the frame bolted to the floor ?
Does the Touran base fix directly to the caddy floor or the caddy seat frame?

Hope that makes sense, sorry if it’s a simple question

Thanks

Caddy seat and bases out. Touran base and new seats back in. Quite easy.

just make sure you have the bolts that held the touran seats to the touran frame as the caddy bolts are smaller

You can get away with using normal hexhead bolts if you don't have the proper vw ones, they are m10's

You might have a problem turning M10 hex head bolts as they locate withing a U shape channel.
Socket head bolts will be better if you can get them.

but speaking from recent experience touran bases are so much handier -

plus if they are low seats they will be very low on caddy bases

I do agree Touran bases are more simple.

Agreed! I like the extra storage and they still look oem. My golf R mk7 seats actually sit at the same height, if not slightly lower than the caddy seats on the standard bases.

I am doing the same job myself using Audi A6 leather seats, I have tried using the caddy bases but the centres across the audi runners are 20 mm wider than the caddy bases so you cant just drill out, you would need to weld a bit on to drill into. as others have said the audi seats are a lot lower so you would need to fabricate and weld something to make the caddy bases higher. I bought some touran bases and problem solved, the fixing holes match perfectly onto the caddy floor and on the top for the A6 seats, no drilling needed. The touran bases measure 86mm high at the front compared to 42mm for the caddy, so the height issue is sorted as well. So Touran bases saves a lot of hassle, I just need to sort the wiring now.
