Hi everyone,

So I’ve not bought a caddy yet but I’m looking at the BG vans. Some do have colour coded bumpers on them but most haven’t. So this will be a job that I would like done if I do get one without colour coded bumpers.

What would be the best option...buying new bumpers( I’ve already looked on eBay and there is nothing)

Or

Get mine resprayed?

I’m a bit nervous getting a respray as I don’t want them to flake.

What’s your opinion?

A few options are -
1. To get the original textured ones colour code. I had mine done and I have never had any problems with the paint cracking, crazing or flaking. This method is all down to the prep which will reflect on how well they will turn out. Best to flat down all the texture instead of high build primer.
2. Get hold of a decent second hand factory painted bumper of a Caddy or Touran (Front bumpers only apply) and resprayed to match existing van paint work. This is probably the preferred method.
3. Buy new primed bumpers for front and back and colour coded to match existing van paint work.
4. Leave them as they are.
5. Buy a Caddy with colour coded bumpers.

Hi Sam
I had mine painted. For me that was the best thing for me to do. I haven’t had any problems with paint flaking or cracking.
Mine is an EX BG Van

Thanks all for your replies! I think I might get them painted then! If I see a caddy with colour coded bumpers then I will buy that but if not then paint be my next option.

We have painted loads of standard bumpers, including my own.
It’s all about the prep, sanding all the texture off and then using the correct products to ensure good adhesion. We charge £300 for a rear and £350 for a front, it’s labour intensive and good products aren’t cheap. Anyone quoting less is either working for fook all or cutting corners and lets be honest, nobody works for fook all.

Painting them isn’t too hard, just a lot of time to sand smooth the texture prior to painting. Just using high build isn’t a good idea, flatting back completely works far better
