A word of warning to EVERYONE

For those with access to the technical section of the forum, please do not ever copy and paste content from the restricted access area of the forum into the public area, whether that be text or screenshots. It is much preferable to advise whoever needs/wants such information to earn their own access.

For all, quoting posts should be kept to a minimum. There are very few situations where quoting is absolutely necessary yet daily I and other moderators on the forum are having to clean up threads where we find quote upon quote upon quote.

This all comes about as I have had to remove a undoubtedly quite useful thread because someone with access felt it was OK to copy a technical topic with TEN screen shots and posted all these screen shots into a topic in the chat forum. This was worsened by the fact that the forum user the information was posted to help decided that a quote of all ten screenshots was the best way to reply and say thank you.
I have not given any warning in this instance but this has to stop.
If the quoting problem persists, Tapatalk will be removed from the forum or restricted to those who have made a paid donation to the forum only.

Good point Doc.

Sometimes though a thread can get sidetracked and if you are replying to a point made or question that is several posts ago (may even be on the previous page) its not always clear what you're replying to. Maybe need to say "in reply to post 3.."

In replying to a point several posts ago, it's OK to put in a quote, if it clarifies what you are replying to.
However if the post you are quoting contains lots of photos, or lots of unrelated text, you can edit your quote, to remove the picture links at least, and any unrelated text. Thus keeping your quote to a minimum.
We all love to see pictures, but lots of them repeated over and over in quotes quickly becomes tiresome

I might as well post this in here and bump this topic.

Posting "Welcome" in 31 new members threads in 12 minutes is not how you build your post count to get further access on this forum. The used who did this had 44 posts, 41 of which were just as above, spaced out over two visits to the forum.
Said user is now serving a ban.
This only goes to prove the access policy works and keeps a lot of idiots out.
