Newbie - Long distance journey - 1.6TDI + REMAP

Post by cmc94 »

Hi All,

I tried finding the answers to this question via the search bar but, I didn't lol, apologies if i'm double posting :-)

Cutting to the point, I'm very much on the verge of purchasing a Caddy, really like the look of the ones at highstone motors . I'm looking at the 1.6 (5speed) with the re-map to 140bhp.

I was curious to see if anyone had any feedback as to what these engines are like on a long distance journey? I live in London but originally from Cornwall so travel back fairly often.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated! Fingers crossed I'll soon be a Caddy owner :)

I have a 1.6 tdi caddy it's been remapped to 140 it's an ex BG van and it copes with long distance really well.
I live in Devon and drive to London with work from time to time.
I picked mine up from Exeter diesels
Caddy maxi 3.2 VR6 EX BG

Thanks mate, appreciate the response! Do you find that only having 5 gears a pain or ok on long journeys? Also does the 140 re-map give you enough poke/pull for overtakes on motorway etc?

Cheers!

I have a 2011 1.6 tdi remapped to 140 bhp. I drive it every week on 500 km trips.
It was remapped in September and has since then covered 10.000 miles.

No problems, same fuel economy but at a higher speed :)
