Xtrons & ipod

Post by Mastbury »

Hi all,

Recently purchased an xtrons head unit for my 15 plate ex BG caddy. Well happy with it, works a treat for most part! I just can't seem to get it too connect via USB to me Ipod. Both the usb leads work as I've had my phone charging off both of them, so it's not an issue with them, so I can only assume that it is something up with the unit itself?! Any ideas at all?!

Cheers in advance!

@Mastbury no experience with xtrons gear but some cables are only for charging not data transfer, have you tried hooking your ipod up to a computer with the cables? Hope it's a simple fix like a new cable.

Perfect thanks guys, ill get on the hunt for an OTG cable!
Just a bit of a daft question now i believe...but...Im looking to buy the 4G dongle to use with my head unit to stop using my phones data! But, to either use / access the wifi capabilities of the unit do I also need to get a sim card to work with the dongle? Or is it literally as simple as buying the dongle, plugging it into the unit and away we go?!

You will need to purchase a sim card in order for the WiFi dongle to work.

Just connect to your home WiFi to download updates or apps if your van's close enough.....
That's what I do then use phone data when your out and about.

Yeah thats not a bad idea !

Main reason I was looking into it was that im off to wales for a week riding (riding 4 spots north to south...sort of) in 2 weeks time, and I didnt want to use all my data for sat nav trying find a) the way, b) some where to camp ! and music!

Ar well. I used my hotspot before going up north and it didnt seem like it actually used that much data, so hopefully it wont be too bad.

Have you got the DAB+ at all? Looking at getting one as the reception I keep getting without it always seems to be pretty poor whenever Im about 1 mile from any buildings!

What are you using for Sat Nav Google maps....!
If so you can down load the offline section of the area you plan to go so you will not need to use WiFi.
Yeah got dab+ works perfect

Yeah i am using google maps...mainly as its already built into the unit, what with it being an android unit! But I also think it is much better than most other sat navs, especially traffic wise!
Good idea to download them actually, Just need to decide on a few camp sites now!!

Nice one, did you get the antenna too or just the tuner?
