Rear seats install.

Post by Halflife123 »

Really need help on what seats are the easiest best fit for rear seats in SWB. Any help would be appreciated as I plan on taking my daughter safely in the back. I also would like to be able to fold/remove for full use of van.

Caddy Life seats are the simplest although that still requires welding in the bit along the front and bolting or welding in the plates for the seatbelts.

Sirus offer the full conversion including the seats and carpets for £1860 (currently on sale for £1660) [https://sirusautomotive.co.uk//wp-cont ... 2770128518

Thanks I thought it might need welding somewhere do you have to take out the plate that covers the rear footwell.

Following, I think you can make Touran ones to fit but there's some welding involved also the seat belts will have to be fitted to meet vehicle standards.
I'd like to know if touran ones can be flipped up and removed easily, I might pop around one of my neighbours and ask them

I was wondering about the third row seats. If they fit without removing the plate that covers the rear footwell that is probably what I will try and do.

If you decide that make sure you get the two runners and especially the four bolts, as these are needed to clamp the seat.

My dad has just bought a 2016 Maxi Life and has removed the 3rd row seats, rails, mushroom bolts and seatbelts. I’ll find out if he wants to sell them and post in for sale section if so.

I'm also looking at getting the rear seats put in. I've found the kombi 2+1 fold and remove seats without any brackets or belts.
I'm just unsure on the part numbers for the brackets and where to get them. Can anyone help?

I'm referring to x 7 small brackets/clips which can be seen in the link.

@halflife123

I've just put the life 2nd row seats in mine, if you're comfortable working on cars/Van's it's not a bad job, done in an afternoon. Check out my build thread, some pictures on there, I can dig out the part numbers for the plate/bracket you'll need, it was about £50 from tps, seat belt spreader plates were about £10 off fleebay and then I knocked up the seat spreader plates out of some 4mm stainless flat bar. Probably £70 worth of extra bits if you can source the 2nd row seats, seat belts and brackets.

If you decide you want to fit the 3rd row, I've a set with brackets and seatbelts that I'm not fitting, will be selling just haven't got round to listing yet.

Just looked at your build thread great job buddy. Just wondering how easy it was to remove the false floor and got the new floor fixing point.

removing the floor is just chopping some welds and grinding.

then weld in the new fixing plate.

I opted to let someone else do it, as by the time I get a welder and the parts, then find the time to do it etc, it just worked out better for me.

It's just spot welded down either side, on a little bracket near the handbrake adjuster, a bit of seamweld/silicon onto b pillar then you can either cut the sides where the rear loom goes through or just un plug the loom and route it back in afterwards. You want a drill, spot weld drill bit and a pry bar or flat head screwdriver. Took about an hour including undoing and redoing both looms.

I went to see a specialist company today but they said as I have a SWB I won’t be able to fit caddy life seats in. Is this true I want seats fitted to look as factory as possible. Any help advice appreciated as I don’t have full access to site yet.
