Anyone installed 12" subs under the seats of a mk4 Caddy, any tips/pictures would be appreciated

It seems like you can fit about 25 liters of enclosure under the seat. I would think that's not enough for a 12" subwoofer. A 10" might be better fit. But you can have one under each seat. 2x10 is about 40% more cone area than 1x12.

Are there boxes available off the shelf? For the size of the van I think a decent 10" would suffice

I have a VIBE Optisound Auto 8 Active Underseat Subwoofer Enclosure

under the seat and packs a decent punch for what it is, helps that the amp is built in so saves on space. It was originally in my connect as the lack of space was an issue but seems the caddy has much more space to accommodate.

I’ve got an alpine active 8” under seat sub. It sounds way better than the 10” I had in my Saxo many moons ago, and also the 12” in my focus - again, longer ago than I care to remember. I think the technology has come on a lot.
Also too big a sub and you loose clarity, especially in a car IMO. I’m very impressed with this 8”.

@theswanfiend is the amp built into that one also? I’ve seen them before, they look a tidy little unit

If you cut through the flooring, and remove the padding, there is a LOT more space!

This is my Touran (same floorpan) with Touran bases (Duh!) with the lower draw removed, but this full size battery, fits under there inside a box, with the seat all the way down. It's mounted about an inch off the floor, to clear the reinforcing and a single layer of insulation. It pokes out from under the front of the seat when it is all the way back, but not in a "normal" position, and is perfectly usable anyway... my wife doesn't even complain, and it's her seat!

I've got a Focal 2.1 that sits nicely on its side behind the passenger seat fixed between the floor and the bulkhead. This has a built in amp and connects to the standard radio with the wiring loom supplied it's plug and play you just need to run a dedicated fused cable (supplied) to the battery.
It's got a nice punch but won't blow the windows out.

I have this Focal 8" under seat amp. Very nice solid piece of kit, does not even need screwing down as its on rubber feet and it is pretty heavy. Also upgraded the door speakers to focal 20cm with sound deadening. Cant fault it. No more annoying vibrations from the oem setup.

I run my very old (have had them since new) Pioneer TS-WX160 x2 for 16cm woofers these can punch! They run off a Blam audio 4ch digital amp along with Blam Relax front speakers.

I’ve used an aftermarket unit myself as it has more power than the standard unit and also some RCA outputs that you’ll plug your sub into.
Someone once told me you can wire a sub into a stereo with no RCA output, but I’m not sure how, or even if that statement is accurate.
Whatever you buy, make sure everything matches up, ie don’t buy 300w door speakers to run them from a 50w channel on a head unit. They’ll only sound rubbish!!
