Rear badge removal

Post by M4NSS »

Just got myself a new black VW badge to replace the existing standard one. What is the best way to get it off?

A bit of braided fishing line is the safest way. Anything else you run the risk of scratches, chips or even dents. Slip the braid behind the badge and use like a cheese wire to cut through the double sided tape holding it on.

Agreed, I used a hairdryer to soften up the adhesive, and very gently with plastic trim tool to remove (didn’t think of fishing line, good idea). Then some isopropyl alcohol or similar to remove all traces of the old adhesive.

Use it very slow and be very careful in the edges.
