Caddy facelift tail lights?

Post by Mot44 » Wed Jul 10, 2019 12:42 pm

Hi. I’ve fitted some facelift tail lights to my 63 plate caddy. It doesn’t have a drivers side reverse light (it’s a fog light) but keeps popping up on dash warning bulbs error. I’ve looked on VCDS to try and turn off bulb check everytime the ignition is cycled. I wired it up according to instructions that came with the facelift lights. Any help appreciated please.

Thanks 👍

Hi, welcome to the forum.
Your caddy originally had two reverse lights, one on each side. Since you've removed the right side reverse light you'll see the bulb warning error until such time as you have it coded out or otherwise bypassed.

on 63 Caddy you will need VCP (VAG CAN PRO) to edit the EEPROM in the BCM in order to get rid of the reverse error fault and add the bottom brake bar to main light as well.
I have genuine VCDS, VagCAN Pro, SMOK and ODIS with online server access for any of your programming needs in Hemel Hempstead/Watford area.

As claudiu2s mentioned above, VCDS is not the tool you need in this case mate.

You can put a small resistor in place of the right rev light. The bulb error should dissapear. Dont know what resistor would suffice

Or just wire up another lamp holder with a lamp in and pop it behind the light, it’ll only come on when reversing?! No one would see it?! Cheap quick fix!!
