just seen this post. fot a living i fit towbars and dual controls

wiring wise as ppl have said you do need a 7 way bypass relay, this can be scotched locked into the loom and wont cause any problems, and a live feed is needed from the fuse box

ive fitted a witter fixed towbar onto my 11 plate caddy

i wired all mine up in this panel only because i had other items in there that needed wiring in, would recomend wiring it in on the o/s

if any one needs any advice or wiring colours when it comes to towbars feel free to pm me

towbar wiring

Postby H13GGE » Thu Jul 28, 2011 12:36 pm

My 7 way bypass relay has arrived, going to have a go at it tonight.

Does the loom come down the l/h side of the van for the back lights?

Can someone tell me the colour of wires for indicators, brake lights, side lights etc?

With a multi-meter I managed to work out the wiring to the back lights in the van and got my towbar electrics working.

Wiring loom to back left light.

Grey/Black - Left tail light
Brown - Earth
Red/Black - Brake Lights
Black/Blue - Reverse(not used)
Black/white - Left indicator

I ran a 2-core flex to the right hand light -

Black/Green - Right Indicator
Grey/Red - Right tail light

Hi guys - I made some enquiries with a local supplier who brings them in from http://rightconnections.co.uk/

He claims that he's done the Caddys GP (the facelift ones) and that they are prewired for tow bar connections from factory. Anyone found this to be the case? I may take mine apart tonight but it'd take a while - I have a lot of stuff to take out in the back!

The connections I need to make for this kit are:
2x power
earth
CAN high & low
brake light

Hi, I am helping a neighbour fit his towbar, and we are having real difficulties with the wiring. The Caddy is a 2005, 1.9, LHD ( we are in France), so things get complicated when I read nearside, and offside as they are transposed here, as is the rear fog light.

The issues are we have the bypass relay setup from Tow Equipe,, now it's just a matter of connecting it...lol.

First question is how do you actually remove the lights.?

Looking from the rear, the left hand light assembly seems to be fed via a cable assembly which is connected to plug and socket located directly above the rear wheel, however all of the wires in the plug are white, so what's what?. Similarly with the right hand side what colour wire feeds what?

Also could we use the 12v feed from the 12volt socket in the boot?,

Any help would be really appreciated.

Alan

I have just fitted my towbar and am also having trouble with wiring. Can I wire all the wires in from one side or do I have to add additional wire to reach opposite indicator?? Also anyone know wire colours Eric. It's a 2004
