Will VW ever make a non Diesel and non leaf spring van..

Post by dooka »

Hi all..

As the title really. Do we think VW will ever make a non Diesel van or a van with proper rear suspension..

I understand the Caddy is on leaf springs at the back due to making space in the back, but like most on here, not carrying crazy amounts of stuff, so room isn't an issue..

I wouldn't mind a 1.8T conversion, out of a TT 225 or similar..

I know some on here are doing conversions, which I would be very interested in, if it works properly. I hear the guys on air have all sorts of issues with the rear set up..

Just a little ramble really :)..

Mk2 Golf van?

Did they ever fit that with a petrol motor?

what issues are they getting with the air mate? with the 4 bar link and the watts link i didnt think there would be much to go wrong if you have it all set up bang on. after all Its not like its a new system they have been doing it on american trucks for years!

I meant the Caddy 2K Stone :). I love my van so much, but would rather something a little more refined all round :)..

I hear the rose joints play up, but like I say, "Have heard", so may well be chinese whispers. I have been in Chris's [Hulk] van, one word "Awesome" :)..

I know a company in Ireland with a mk5 R32 van, think they are due to change it soon too. ;)

From the factory or a conversion?

They do the conversions for VWCV Ireland as far as I know, don't think there is a factory golf van.

I think the MK2 was the last factory Golf van. Although, I sure I recall seeing a MK4 van, but not sure..

I know what your saying dooka, a GTi caddy or a proper .:R line van with 250+bhp 4wd and all the luxuries. Soft feel dash with carbon fibre and alcantara everywhere or a rear engined rear wheel drive van would be a hoot!!

Let's start a petition :D

In South Africa the most sold Caddy has a 1.6 fuel injected(petrol) motor.Next is the 2.0 Tdi,and very last is a real slow non turbo diesel 1.9.

The rear leaf springs are a joke even a coil dead beam set up (2 bar link with coil springs at the back) like the mk4 would be better! The mk5/6 rear is on my list when I get the balls to do it!

Next caddy should be independent rear or mk6/7 setup and have the 1.4tsi engine as an option (I know it's been dropped :( ) and a mega hot gti version
