Hi Everyone, I have taken off my winter wheels (205/55/16 Pirelli snow control) and put on summer tyres and wheels. The wheels are 17” with 225/45/17 Michelin primacy tyres on the rear and primacy pilots on the front. The mpg has dropped by at least 5mpg to 7mpg and there is quite a bit of road noise. Is this the norm? The front tyres are a little stepped on the inside but not bad and the tyres have 5/7mm all round, any feed back gladly received. G

What engine do you have?

Usually would be a minor affect on mpg getting going, or town driving
Shouldn’t be much if you mainly do motorway mileage

tyres have a big effect on MPG. this is why all new tyres are sold with a efficiency rating and a lot of new cars now have thinner tyres.

i have found the sportier you go the more the MPG drops. but yes there are other factors such as driving conditions to think of as well

There are a lot of factors that affect the MPG with tyres.

Even the bigger rims being heavier means you have more weight to spin up every time you accelerate.
