Just seen this thread guys and feel I can offer some advice. Before that though congratulations on a great looking van and mk7 bumper looks stunning in white!! I've just had 2 of my caddys fitted with mk 7 golf gti bumpers, and also the touran mirrors. Was all for ordering a bumper from the guy on ebay and he quoted me £565 primed and another £200 painted. However his bumper is black and looked a bit wavy in the photos. I called him (chris) and he said that he sent his bumpers to a body shop to paint. Haven't seen his bumpers but have heard that they are not ready to paint when you buy them primed and need a lot of work to be ready for a quality paint job. However, a local guy has started doing these mods to Caddy's whom I've known to be a brilliant painter for some years. He has done a superb job (and I'm really a pain in the arse for detail) on mine! He also fitted the bumpers, matching the colours perfectly, fitted the mirrors and coded them so the indicators and fold back work. The other chap told me I had to drill an extra hole in my door and hard wire! Heard some stories also of filler work coming off bumpers in transit so be careful guys. Not judging the man's work just relaying my personal experience ... here are a few photos of the work done in the last few weeks by Procad. I can recommend without hesitation and he is very reasonable and helpful (cost less to have bumper mirrors fitted than supplied by ebay guy). He has recently joined the forum under barty71 I think but his name is Simon and number is [DO NOT CONTACT THIS GUY] ... some photos of mine for ideasImageImageImageImageImage

Hi mate , I brought my bumper from chris. All the heights were perfect and the plastic welding was spot on. I purchased is as black primerd. And yeah it was very waved in the fiberglassing. A local painter sorted that out for me. There is a small crack in the bumper but that was completely my fault as I hit a speed bump to fast and the van was super low

Love the gti mk 7 look and really compliments the van! Read your comments last July on the gti bumper being wavy etc and agree with you. His primed bumper isnt ready to paint and the 'wavy' finish needs a lot more work, and cost, to achieve the high class of paintwork you managed on yours, looks stunning in your photos! As I say not seen his work, just photos and few comments on here that discouraged me personally.

On a different note, some fantastic engineering on your engine build! Reminds me years ago of building ford bda, toyota 2tg and lotus twin cam units and the sheer raw of the solex/weber twin 40/45 and 48's. Will sound like the roar of a Lion. Whats your company mate and where are you based as have some ideas for another caddy in the pipeline! Great thread and inspiring engineering

I agree mate with the extra work involved with the front bumper. The sprayer did say it was abit all over the place...

My old man owns "Anderson racing engines". Usually building fords and Vauxhall but we will take on any job. We bore and machine engine blocks . Do all cylinder head work from porting to seat cutting. And many other things .. we also have a bench dyno suitable for 800 bhp and 20.000 rpm .

At least you got there in the end and your van looks stunning so far mate! Wow sounds like a great set up you've got there!

Just had a look at your website and if I may digress from Caddy talk for a second. Seeing the 1600 twin cam video brought back fantastic memories of one of the tare Toyota Celica 1600GT i owned in 1977! It had the 124bhp 1600 2t-G engine with mikuni/solex twin 40's! I rebuilt this engine to achieve 180 plus, with few mods to head, cams, weber 45's and fabricated manifold/exhaust. Your father may remember this engine which is still considered in high regard even today .... great days!

Also worked on the cosworth engine in 1992, which was in a mallard green escort cosworth, big turbo model which I took to 420bhp. I'm in psychiatry, not a mechanic lol ... just love engines and have a self taught passion! My old Celica! I'll be in touch and apologies for digressing off on a tangent ImageImageImageImage

Engine and gearbox went in the van tonight. Super happy. But I need to finish machining the rocker cover I've made from aluminium. And some small other details.

Thanks buddy can't wait to see this finished now...

Here's the link to the adapters etc for the Porsche callipers... https://www.vagbremtechnic.com/vw/caddy ... 4-onwards/

They also do adapter kits for other models of callipers too.

I will be using a DTA S40 ecu with bespoke wiring loom
