Been playing with SketchUp trying to learn bits and whilst it drives me up all the wall most of the time, its also really useful. Added in the weld on bosses and the eyelets the harnesses clip onto.

I love SketchUp, it works so well and the support is endless.

Regards the harness bar, I would prefer to see you wrap the webbing around the bar and just add some location loops, this will be much safer than placing all potential lateral forces on a screwed joint.

If you must use the eyes then weld on brackets will be much stronger, else fit the screw in eyelets at a slight upward angle so as the forces are not all parallel to the threads, sharing the load between lateral and sheer forces on the eyelet connection to the harness bar.

Nobody wants to test these things but we can only hope they are as strong as necessary when of if they are needed. Hopefully never.

Gotcha. I suppose as mine is more cosmetic and unlikely to be used in real anger I figured I would keep the clips the harnesses came with. But probably worth doing properly the first time! Luckily I know a guy with a tube notcher so he can prep the tube to mate with the clamps really well which will make the welds much stronger. Will have to source something for the strap location hoops.

Please no more real carbon fibre, I believe there's a world wide shortage since you started buying for this build. 🤣Image🤣

Bit of colour and a few tweaks. Decided that instead of welded on hoops for the harnesses to locate in that clamps would work and they can be painted to match some of the other satin titanium bits.

Still struggling aligning tubes in sketchup as you can't place reference points where you want them. Sure there's a way but I don't know it yet.

This is that “just read from start to finish” post.

Damn, you’ve got an amazing Caddy there!

Good effort with everything you’ve achieved.

Gives us all hope that we might be able to achieve something some day!

Looking forward to reading the posts to come!

Caddy R360 build thread

Post by dan@biali »

The caddy has been at Intermotiv getting the upgraded rear trailing arms they’ve developed due to an issue with the original design. Sounds like it’s nearly ready to collect and I’m keen to see how these feel on the road - there is a small amount more flex in this design and the bushings are also slightly less stiff so the ride quality might improve with less harshness. They’ve also been going through the system making sure everything is just right.

Saw this shot on fb by mrpix or vagroots of the caddy at goodwood.
