sweet van, and very inspirational thread. sux with the damages in the paint.. i recently bought my 2010 maxi, and after giving it the "new car wash" i found some scratches that was covered with those cheap crack filler sticks from turtle wax. the guy i bought it from claims this must have been done by the mechanics when it was on service the week before as he asked them to "detail" it. i picked it up, and as i signed in the contract that i had gone over the car, and bought it as it was presented, i dont have a chance in getting it covered by either him or the garage.. lesson learned i guess.

Audi A3 vents arrived in the post today. Here is a photo of a quick test fit this evening. I think they look much better than the TT ones.

horace01 wrote: Sat May 27, 2017 10:03 am It's been over 2 years since I fitted my Audi TT vents. At the time they were to be a temporary fitment until I got around to shaping the Audi A1 vents.

Anyway today I had a chance to make a little more progress.

They are coming along quite nicely I think. Still lots to do though.

Since taking these photos i have sanded it more and given the edge a paint. I'll keep putting up pictures as I progress.

I have just got myself a set of Audi A1 vents, how did you go about shaping them to fit them flush to the dash?

I laid some masking tape down on them to give me the shape I needed then used a Dremal tool. It was however too difficult to keep the edge straight. I eventually used a bench top belt sander.

Im not sure if I'll bother finishing the other 3 vents a it's loads of work and I'm liking the A3 ones which are a perfect fit with no work at all.

Plug and play Nic. Saying that I had slightly filed down the lip in the dash where the vents fit, when I fitted the TT vents. Not sure if you would need to do so when fitting from scratch.

Because the new vents are longer than the TT vents there seems to be no need to extend the length of them to meet the back of the ventilation ducts. Basically the airflow is strong enough without making the modification.

Also the new vents are the correct size for the holes. There is no need to mount the vents into the outer ring of the original Caddy vents as you do with the TT vents.

Do the S3 vents leave any visable gaps? looking at the ones you have look like there is a gap at the top or is it just the way it looks?

You are correct in my picture there is a slight gap. I had just not pushed the vent in in properly. So once fitted correctly there is no gap.
