After having a glow plug error since the day I got the van I finally fitted these on the weekend.

Had my new window covers arrive today. Really happy with the quality. They are a perfect fit.

Should make sleeping in the van a little more comfortable.

This is what happens with Depo lights in the Australian sun. Well I assume it the sun. Either way it's a bit dissapointing.

This is happening on the outside of the lights. The outer layer is peeling off. Hopefully a light sand and polish will sort it out.

If not I'll swap the outer lense for the ones on my original lights which are in the shed.

I think your right Nic. It looks just the same as if a clear coat was failing on a paint job. As i say above I'll just remove the coating with a variety of grades of sandpaper and a polish. Eventually I'll swap the lenses over for original ones. I just want to avoid having to split both pairs of lights because I really cannot be bothered with it TBH.

Here are some shots of the window covers fitted. The last one is taken with no flash and shows how little light gets through when they are in place.

Finally got through your thread Horace. Nice van and build. I can see what you've done with the carpet on the door. You won't have much humidity down there compared to where I am (North East Scotland) and my concern is that carpet will get wet above the seal. Does yours get damp when it rains - does it rain?

Yes it does rain here. Don't believe what you see on Neighbors and Home and Away :D . I'm form Melbourne so we do get fair bit of rain here. I lived in Edinburgh for 12 years and Melbourne weather is very similar. Hotter here in the summer and colder there in the winter but generally its 15-18 degrees and going to rain at some point, then be sunny, then a little cold then a little hot. Best pack for 4 seasons in one day as they say.

Even in torrential downpours the carpet rarely gets wet. Really the only time it gets wet is when I pressure wash the van. Then it tends to be the bottom of the sliding door and maybe a couple of drips at the top of the barn doors.

I too was worried about it so the carpet I used is marine grade stuff used for boats and guaranteed not to rot or get mildew/mold.

Ah paradise isn't that good after all ;)

Did you get marine grade carpet only for the doors or the whole lot? Might only do the doors with marine trim to keep costs down. I'm assuming it's more expensive? I have wind noise from the rear door seals so this will help. I'm surprised it doesn't get wet. I still think the moisture in the air here will result in it being damp, especially in winter, although I could always cut it back if that does turn out to be the case

Thanks for your answer.

It was only about $4.00 per metre more than the regular stuff. I used it everywhere as the van is used for kitesurfing so constantly has damp gear in it. Probably makes no really difference on the inside TBH.

Amazing thread horace how do you find the rear door seals up against the carpet like that? I'd like to fully carpet the barn doors but am worried that it will allow water to soak the carpet.
