Have you sorted the ride height out yet Ken? You can just move the top shock mounts backwards on the threaded holes in the top plate to give you more height.

I’m still trying to sort out my very noisy watts linkage bush which knocks like mad all the time. Apparently they’re redesigning something to fix this but I’ll go as far as saying their customer service has been far from good.

My caddy build and face lift

Post by KenTDI140 »

Yes they are very slow. I’ve had an email today saying that the replacement watts bushes are on the way as I had the same issue.
The problem was that they were machined wrong and have too much slack in them.
Yes I have my ride hight all sorted now. I needed longer springs as the ones I had on first were too close to being cool bound.

Mine also turned up, I fitted mine too. The bush was a much tighter fit into the new one. The majority of the noise has gone now but it is still noisy when on an uneven surface (most of Sheffield’s roads) I think it’s the rose joints on the ends of the adjustable watts linkage arms.

Might be. Ok I’ll fit what’s been sent and see what it’s like.
Most rose joints need a rubber protector to stop dirt getting in and wearing them. Also they need to be packed with grease. I noticed on these joints that there is a small spring loaded grease big point which needs a special little gun to force the grease in with.
Also on things like works mk2 escorts and 5 link set ups as I have on my mk2 rs the end that connects to the body has a poly bush and not a rose joint at each end which reduces the noise a lot

Yeah I think if they changed the rose joints for poly bushes it would be near silent.

I fitted the new diamond part of the watts linkage that they sent today. The oilite bushes were a very tight fit and it has cured the rattle from the suspension all together.

That's good news Ken... Do you think the bushes will last?

Yea they should do but I will probably grease the pivot point every time I service it. I might even drill and fit a grease nipple later on.

Ken
I need some advice please as you’ve already done the gearbox conversion
Change gearbox with a jlu gearbox and associated driveshafts, starter and complete clutch assembly
Go turn over engine and it’s like a flat battery with starter jamming
Go to bump with a tow the gearbox seems to lock up
Remove starter and the same thing happens - as above
Seems like the flywheel assembly is “tight” to my friends who installed it (one works for Mercedes and the other Audi)
Any ideas ?
