Re: My caddy build and face lift
I've delved a little deeper into my old engine, 1&2 main bearings shot...oil pump only showing signs of damage from what has been sucked up

That's a little unusual for this engine normally they just throw a conrod.

Re: My caddy build and face lift
Sounds more like it ran a bit low on oil and picked up a bearing.
If the rain holds of I'm going to get my new rear lights fitted today and hopfuly my side door rail and cover.

Lol the weather is supposed to be bad here today and rain is on the way.
First job though it to rewire the car loom as every connection is different

Re: My caddy build and face lift
New light units all in and working. Managed to separate the fog light wire off and extend it up through the door ready to fit the roof spoiler and fog light

Re: My caddy build and face lift
And now with the new sport line roof spoiler fitted and the laser fog light stuck just under it.
I decided not to mount the fog light in the roof spoiler as I didn't want to cut a hole in it.
So I ended up cutting a hole in the underside of the roof spoiler, then ran the wire along the inside then back out of a pre made hole and through a small hole I made in the top of the door which I sealed with silicone sealer then I dropped the wire down the inside of the door along side the rear window heater wires and connected it to the fog light wire which I had already extended and fed through the rubber sleeve that takes the heated window wires from the body to the door

^^^ looks very neat......bet everyone will think it's a reversing camera!
Can you do a night time pic, would be interested to see how it looks in the dark?? Cheers.

Re: My caddy build and face lift
Yea I thought the little fog light looked like a reversing camera too. Not to obtrusive either.
I'll do a night photo later.
Not got the fog light to work as it does not draw enough current so the ecu thinks there is a fault and switches it off.
Shouldn't be too hard to sort, just needs an appropriate resistor soldering in before the light I think.

Re: My caddy build and face lift
I bought a kit from Germany I think the fronts were b6. They were shortened and updated. Not coilovers. And they only do one direct replacement for the rears.
But even with the new shocks on the back the damping is not enough.
I've done a bit of suspension design and building on a few kit cars and mk1 and 2 escorts in the past and having the rear shocks at 45 deg angle like the caddy shocks are reduces effectiveness by up to 45%. So really it's a must to have shocks vertical so I'm thinking of finding a way to turret the rear shocks but that will have to wait for a while
