FFarrell, bumpers were bought online and then painted to match the van, front one was used on eBay and rear one was from TPS

Toms White caddy build thread

Made some decent progress on the van this weekend, got the insulation cut and glued to the roof over the sound deadining and the ply panels cut and sealed over the single skinned bits Image
Was then able to get the carpet fitted on both sides and fit the roof lining/lights back in Image
Image
managed to carpet one of my cut down bulkhead/corner trim covers, still have the other one to do and the sliding/barn door panels to carpetImage
made a template and cut the new ply flooring into two sections ready to fit Image
Image
Altro flooring cut 10mm bigger all round ready to fit and trim
Image
Hoping to get all these inside bits finished next Saturday, pleased with progress so far Image

Looking good Can't wait to get into the interior of my van but it'll need to be in the new year once the cold weather has passed

Thanks bud, you'll have to get some pictures up when your done be sure to have an abundance of Stanley blades when you tackle the carpet, they cut nice and neatly for what seems like only a couple of feet and then they're about as sharp as a wooden spoon

I've been there mate, carpeted my T5 so went through loads of blades. I see everyone seems to attach ply to the single skinned section then carpet over it, any reason why you can't make one ply panel to go from above the arch to the top of this section?

This is how it's done in the T5's

Nope no reason whatsoever mate, just personal preference I guess, I like the way it follows all the curves and recesses of the metal myself, but either way is good

I prefer the way you have done it as it does look better but I was worried about denting the single skinned area when loading bikes into the van. Also the other way gives somewhere to put some more insulation (camping up this way can get very chilly ☃️). I'll cross this bridge when I come to it but you've given me another decision to make Image

Toms White caddy build thread

Thanks guys Image managed to get abit more done today, got the floor insulated underneath and the ply properly fixed down, filled the screw holes, joint and rubbed back. I know I used a lot of fixings but the last floor squeaked like a bitch and I didn't want this one moving at all Image Image
I removed the plastic threshold by the barn doors and set about the altro flooring, as said previously I'd rough cut it around 10mm too big all round. I laid it in the van in the right position and folded back half of it, applied the adhesive and worked it back down from the centre out to the edges to avoid air pockets Image
I cut this half in before applying adhesive to the other other side to ensure I had enough working time to peel the edge back if needed. I was heating around 5-6 inches at a time with the heat gun to make the altro more pliable as it was freezing today and then pushing it tightly into the corner and trimming to fit, Hooked blades make the job much easier. Image
Repeated the same on the other side and Job done Image just got to clean the edge of the carpet in a few places where the excess adhesive squirted out from underneath, fit some sort of angle trim by the sliding door step to cover the ply edge and the back will pretty much be finished ImageImage
