Re: Building a working maxi
I have the same camera as yours I think, you may have to tilt it down even more as the red lines were about 2-3ft away from rear bumper.
But good camera for the money.

It's an xtrons one, think it's good enough for the money. Hopefully it's not a dud as I can't test it yet.

Re: Building a working maxi
Got some more done today, piped up the air ducts on the caddy 4 life center console. Just had to leave a pullcord in there for the 12v socket as the wires I Got from vw are too thin a gauge.
Took the opportunity to give her a little hoovering out and sound deadened the rear footwells going to leave the b pillars until after carpeting the back out.

Does anyone know where to run the wires to for the rear 12v socket? No electrical knowledge

Re: Building a working maxi
I suppose I could splice it in. Just confused as there's a spare unused pin and not sure what it's for.

Ahh because I've noticed the red perspex by the ash tray but there is no actual light there. Maybe this is to power a bulb I don't know. I need someone like doc to spell it out for me because I'm just not sure the best way to approach this.

Stripped the roof lining out today and layed some more ultimat. Going to cut a new front section from hardboard to hide the old bulkhead screws and retrim the linings in anthracite.

Great progress Maxi4Life. Where did you source your dash cover? Are you planning on a proper glove box or are you leaving as is?

Re: Building a working maxi
Got it from vw. A bit costly due to the difficulties of getting the right parts. I think I ended up paying for a touran one but getting a caddy one. The lads on the parts desk were really good to be fair and ended up sending quite a few bits back as they turned up wrong and I had to help push them in the right direction to get the exact right parts as there are more variants of interior trim than you might first think. Once it's all carpeted/trimmed I can start putting on the new trims to leave a nice oem finish.

Re: Building a working maxi
Don't know about a glove box as there doesn't seem to be a very good solution to that issue.
