Vanstyle rear spoiler kit.

Post by LSG »

Just in case anyone is wondering, this is what's included the Vanstyle rear spoiler kit. Also I've just downloaded Tapatalk and I'm trying it out with this post, so I might cock this post up. Image

Looks similar to the genuine kit and probably half the price, good luck with fitting it I fitted mine last week!

It was £100 with VAT and postage, I'm getting the van colour coded next week so may as well let the experts fit it! Was it difficult to fit?

Hey Gareth, I haven't seen one of the other kits but this one seems spot on. No "seams" or evidence of the moulding process and it feels solid. The fittings and threaded components look good quality too. I'll share some photos once it's on.

Thanks mate, I've seen a few online and just wanting to avoid any that have an ugly gap.

The gap is unavoidable unfortunately, you need to leave space between the two spoiler sections so the door clears when opening or closing.
The trick is to line the two sections up so the outside gaps are the same and the inside is minimal. Believe me, it's easier said than done.

I found drilling the holes inside the hardest part!

I bonded mine on, took all of 5 mins to fit and you get plenty of wiggle room to position it exactly where you want it before it sets. I've positioned mine slightly lower (only a few mm) than most seem to because I didn't want the leading edge sticking up above the roof line, I wanted it to follow the roof line.

Does the template in the kit not help??

I personally didn't want to drill a load of holes in my rear doors, there's no need. Bonding is quicker and much easier to get the spoiler precisely lined up where you want it.

It does but the inside holes need to be much bigger to get the nut on the back so a socket too, not a great angle to get a drill either I would bond it if I had to do it again!

What did you use to bond it? Sikaflex?

I fitted mine last week, got a friend to give me "polyutherane bond", he said its like tiger seal but takes a little longer to set unless you have a specific gun for applying it, i just smeared what I needed and left it on for 13 hours and seems fine.

Definetly good quality from vanstyle, I lost the manual and the rubber seals as when he painted it he must have misplaced them  so I just used a spark plug feeler gauge set at 3mm in total and made it that all the way around and it seemed fine.
