Tweedy's Caddy 4 - Acapulco Highline

Post by tweedy2K »

Hi everyone,

Ive been on here a little while now but haven't really posted a lot.

I picked up my 2016 caddy 4 last October. Its the Euro6 2.0 tdi bluemotion 102 in acapulco blue.

The van was bought to carry my dog around. I PX'd my 2015 Passat GT at the time so i didn't want a bobby basic van, but at the same time i wasn't really wanting to get something brand new because knowing me, i would get carried away with the optional extra list!

I picked the van up looking like this ...

First thing on the list of buys was Silent Coat to keep the noise down. I coated all of the side panels in the rear and also pulled the ply lining up to do the floor. It made a good difference and only cost about £80-90. Another job was to buy some of the bulkhead windows from a guy on here. Arrived quickly and made a massive difference!!

I stuck my private reg back on and de-badged the rear.

Found a couple of small scratches where the from where VW bodyshops have take the stickers off but Il be giving them a go over with the DA to get them out. If I can’t, I will get the van booked in to get them detailed professionally. Nothing major though.

Next up, coilovers and wheels. V-Maxx and Vw motorsport 19x8

That ended up something like this:

The tyres at that point were 215/35's. The rear set up was down all it could go and there was still a little too much arch gap for my liking. plus the ride was terrible

I opted for some Dunlop Sport Max 235/35 all round and what a difference they made! Fantastic tyre but i think something along the lines of a P-Zero would have had a nicer sidewall. The Sport max tends to be more curved.

Im trying not to get 'too' carried away with the van as i also have a mk4 gti 20vt that i mess on with and a KTM250 that eats money too. But saying that, the next few mods are hopefully going to be:

Engine cover
Rear VW spoiler
Rear windows tinted
Side rail cover
Nicer door pulls (anyone know any useful part numbers?)
Different seats
armrest centre console
Sat Nav / Apple Play / DAB radio.

Let me know what you think.

Looks very good. What ET/offset are the wheels, any problems with rubbing or side door opening. They're the wheels I really want but can't find them for a decent price in the uk.

I think they're 8J ET 41! No rubbing on the side door. There is plenty of clearance Image

Looks great, I have a life in the same colour and always thought the grey motorsport wheels would look good and they suit the colour spot on. It's amazing a main dealer does not know how to polish a car without scratching it, very frustrating.
List of future mods looks good, a set of life door mirrors would look spot on!

It is very frustrating! Suposdily it was a member of staff from 'bodyshops'. Thats even more shocking if you ask me.

Caddy life mirrors would certainly look the part! Im after the Caddy life door pulls and things too so might try and get a TPS contact and do a bulk buy :D

Thanks for the reply, who did you source the wheels from and how is the ride compared to standard. I have shown the wife the pictures as she has always said Acapulco blue would not be a good colour for modding and even she agrees yours looks good. I'm not sure she will to happy if I order a couple of grands worth of wheels and suspension though.😀

Lovely well wear and happy motoring buddy!

Unfortunately door pulls are part of door cards. Not available as separate part like fl van etc. The triggers are plastic welded in to door cards. :(
