Black Caddy Maxi

Post by Lou »

So after a bit of a search for the right maxi I finally found one which was being sold on the Caddy Facebook page. Only problem it was in Northern Scotland..

So yesterday I flew to Inverness and collected 'Ness' as she will now be called. I then drove 650 miles starting at 3pm and finally arriving at 5:30am to get her home. It was worth it!

So I'm now the proud owner of a Black Maxi Kombi 2.0 140BHP

Ness will be used as our everyday car, a bit of mountain bike transport (when I'm feeling energetic) and also a camper.

I've got so many different ideas on how to make it the perfect vehicle for us, that I look forward to sharing build photos with you. For now here is Ness who needs a bit of a clean after her long journey..

Looking good! Out of interest, how did you fix the ply panels to the sides? Mine are starting to come away and look to have been fitted with loads of sikaflex or something. I'm thinking about sticking some batons and screwing to them.

Ply was fixed with Tiger grip (I think that's what it's called) I think my dad put a couple of short screws in as well
Hope this helps :D

Nice caddy! Did you cut the plyboard yourself or buy it ready cut etc?

I cut it myself. I basically got some cheap plastic stuff from wickes (think it's used for covering floors when decorating) and used that as a template then transferred it onto the plywood. There was a lot of trial an error but got there in the end.
I couldn't find anywhere that just sold those side panels. Most suppliers just sell the whole ply kit..
