Dutchy's Rebuild.

Post by dutchy »

After driving a white 1.6 tdi for 1.5 year's with a lot of plans in my head,,a black 2.0 tdi came along..
This one i had to have..Black instead of White, aiconditioning instead of standard heating..70K less km's
rainsensor..6peed gearbox and so on..

This is how it looks now.

Little front end damage, nothing to worry for me at last as i work in a body shop 8)

Plans with the Caddy:
Same carpet as in the White one, android car stereo, lowering, fancy alloy's.

Maybe! Change color into Magnetic Metallic from Ford, great color but to be honest i don't like it as much on a Transit Connect as on a Focus.. I'dd like your opinion here.
And Maybe Xenon Headlight's. questions about this in a other topic.

These are the alloy's

More pic's from repair to come, enjoy!

Sounds and looks like a good project, I’m not familiar with the Ford colour so can’t offer an opinion but look forward to seeing the project unfold.

Made a decision about the color...it stays black!
I've bought myself a set of Glasurit superior gloss 932-630.
So it's gonna be a full respray.

The sheet metal part is almost finished at this time, think i'll have it back on this weekend.
replaced subframe and lower wishbone
replaced steering rod
replaced inside drive shaft joint
replaced steering wheel, airbag and seatbelts
collect all mayor parts needed for so far.

Finally get the car painted last week, painted in Glasurit waterborn&high gloss clearcoat.
Plan was to wetsand and polish the clearcoat but i think this is unnassesary so rebuilding can get started. 8)

I'm looking for a Touran carpet so i can do this at once.
When rebuild is finished i first have to go to the rdw to get it checked
if the repairs and measurements are right so i can have the title back.

After that we are going to lower it and fit the alloy's.

It's a good job it's got aircon, black vans turn into a Tandoori oven on sunny days, used to strip down to my undies in my black Caravelle, not a pretty sight I can tell you

Have you thought about removing the door bumps. The plastic bits and just having smooth body work??

Yes i have thought about that but i guess i'm just to old for that

It is a lot of work to do that the right way and dont just put body filler in it!
Although i think it would give a great look without all the added parts.

Yeah your have to be welding strips and smoothing down. It is a lot of work but your doing a lot of work anyway that’s why I asked.
