I got a little time down the unit this morning.

Managed to get the Eos heaterbox and chassis wiring loom out.

Some of the loom I had to strip down and remove the connectors from the fuse box just to get the loom through the bulkhead (not fun). The loom for the rear of the car both sides has been cut away. Hopefully I’ll be trimming this loom right back to just a few retrofit looms to add into the van.

I spent a bit of time comparing the eos airbox and caddy. I can’t see anything that shouldn’t physically connect up. Most of the eos sensors all wire back to the heating control panel then that plugs into the car or van. I have to check the wiring diagrams next but it all looks like it might plug straight in.
I think on my next visit I’m going to take the heater box from the caddy and fit the eos one, if it doesn’t work I may end up getting one from a caddy with just basic air-conditioning rather than the eos complicated setup.

I’m starting to get close to actually fitting something rather than just ripping things apart, I’m looking forward to that.

It’s been a while since I posted on here, I’ve discovered and been reading though my old thread. It’s been a bumpy road for the caddy over the last 5 years which saw it left uncompleted, on sorn and sold.
Now I’ve brought it back, got it all running, on the road and making beautiful R32 sounds. Image

Rewind back to the end of 2017 and the caddy was in bits. I was working my way through the wiring and starting to make progress on the conversion. Life was getting a little bit chaotic, I was working all over the UK and had recently become a dad. Inevitably the caddy went on the back burner. The caddy sat in my unit and after another year and another baby I decided it was time to let the caddy go. I ended up doing a deal on the caddy for my mates bagged R32 Golf. It was a great deal for me because I could make use of the rear seats and didn’t need to invest loads of time and money into it.

Around 6 months ago and the caddy was still uncompleted, sitting in our unit, my mate had fitted the engine & gearbox in the bay and started to connect things up, I’d clipped in the engine loom for what it was worth but everything was rushed as neither of us had any spare time to finish it electrically or mechanically. It was really sad to see it in such a state. I don’t even have photos of it, I couldn’t bare to take them.

After 4 years, life had settled down a bit. A new deal was struck and I was the owner of the caddy once again. I fitted up the suspension so that it could roll and we dragged it out of the unit. It really was in a terrible state.
