Re: Blackberry Life
Just got back from my first proper camping trip in the Caddy. I went to Belgium for a couple of days to ride a bike.
Overall very happy with everything (this is still pre day van conversion) and once the summer is out of the way I'm definitely pushing on with the leisure battery, folding bed, curtains, etc. Due to my ability to pack an unbelievable amount of crap, I took the rear seats out completely, and was able to fit 2x road bikes (it was only me but couldn't decide which one to take), tools, airbed, cooking & eating stuff, table, chair, clothes, other gear, etc. Airbed ended up flat due to proximity to bike chainrings, but in the end was more than comfortable with sleeping bag on the van carpet.
Here's a couple of pictures from the campsite (note next door neighbour with Caddy camper conversion), unfortunately didn't get a chance to have a good look before they left.
Also, impressed with fuel consumption. I've never really been able to get near what some of the vans get on here, especially the BlueMotion models, but averaged 55mpg, 515 miles on a single tank, that's Weymouth to Ypres and back without stopping for fuel. Not bad for a 150TDI I guess and I did cane it a bit on the way home. Still the most economic vehicle I've ever had.
Included this as it was about the only time the sun was shining.

Could you show me where abouts that fits please? I'm not sure if I have the same interior which would work with that.
Thanks

Thanks to TonyC for the link...
5 minutes to fit:
Although Oakley Straight Jackets don't quite fit, probably time for a new pair anyway.

Re: Blackberry Life
Been a while since any updates, however van is getting booked in next week for lowering, going for moderate / conservative rather than slammed, with H&R front springs and Darkside rear shackle kit, hopefully around 50mm all round. Will also get headlight beam level adjusted if necessary and wheel alignment checked. Next job after that will be TRC front splitter and in the new year will start work on the inside.

Re: Blackberry Life
Got van back yesterday with H&R front springs, Darkside rear axle kit and TRC front splitter.
Really happy with the look, seems to handle better too, a little stiffer and less wallowy.
Speed bumps have already started eating the mudflaps though
Will get some pics up in daylight over the weekend.

Re: Blackberry Life
Where did you get it done Mark? I went to vanworxs on Portland and asked them about lowering mine, he said they would give me a call.
3 months and waiting.

Re: Blackberry Life
Hopefully will get photos up at the weekend...
Had similar problems trying to get a place to do the work, went to a number of places, responses varied between "no", "we'll call you back (never did)", "hmmmm never done a Caddy, we'll give it a go but can't actually quote you, see how long it takes", "we're not fitting customer supplied parts", it was always like it was too much trouble.
Went to KarTechnic in Poole in the end, nothing was too much trouble, they also fitted the splitter while it was on the ramps, did the wheel alignment and checked the headlamp levelling. It was a bit more that I initially thought, (quoted £435 inc VAT, plus a bit extra for alignment, splitter, etc), but in the end was happy to just get it done hassle-free. I supplied the springs & shackle kit.

01202 677455, speak to Chris.
They also have a dyno and do remapping.
Plus take a look at this, they partner with Wessex Vans to make these:

Re: Blackberry Life
Few photos of the van lowered, with TRC splitter...
I'm going to leave it a week or two to see if the front settles down at all, before finalising the rear height, but overall really happy with it.
