I bought this:
with one of these:
to put in to this:
which I bought so I can drive around with these:
I want the car to be completely legal to drive and insure and so I'm currently waiting on approval from the Western Australia Department of Transport for the modifications I'm planning:
Stage 1 - Frankenstein the Golf GTI Pirelli in to the Caddy
2.0 TFSI with K04 Turbo
DSG gearbox
Steering wheel
Dual zone Climate Control
Pirelli edition wheels with Bridgestone Potenzas (with the correct load rating)
RNS510 Stereo
Parking Sensors
Instrumentation
Pirelli seats
Height and reach adjustable steering column
Brakes
Exhaust
Wiring loom and all modules
ABS unit
Steering rack
K Frame
Footwell lights
Fuel lines and fuel pump
Any other nice things I find will swap across
And a SuperPro alloy control arms with anti-lift kit that I came across
As well as some Touran seat bases I've picked up from Germany
I'll have to obtain a petrol Caddy tank also.
And a pair of Audi S3 wheel hubs and carriers.
Once that's all done I'll take it to be inspected and for the work to be approved before:
Stage Two - Even more performance time
Intermotiv Watts linkage
Intermotiv Stealth shocks with Air Ride air bags
Whiteline Sway bars
Limited Slip Differential
and a Stage Two tune of the engine.
When it goes and handles it's time for:
Stage Three - Interior and Stereo
Trim the rear with carpet
Swap the dash and door skins with Caddy 4 items
And go quite big on the stereo
Stage Four - Exterior and finishing touches
I've put this last as it's costly and adds the least value to the time I spend in the car.
Some 19" Speedline wheels from an Audi.
Change the front end to Touran/Facelift Caddy/not sure what yet.
Smooth out the bumps and add a nice paint job, maybe some graphics.
There aren't many customised Caddys in Perth. Maybe it will start a trend? Wish me luck

I'm looking to do something very similar across the ditch in NZ.
Is the GTI a salvage/otherwise damaged or a fully functional car?
I'm assuming your Caddy must be a TDI as you said you need a petrol tank for it? Originally a manual or DSG?
Would love to see updates from this as you go!
