Ddraeg's Low & Slow SDI
I figured I better get round to making my own build thread as I'm hoping to progress my little van into a mini camper eventually!
I got the van from a taxi firm who had only been using it to run leaflets and documents around. It had been sat pretty still for the last two years so it only had 82k on the clock. It's a 2.0 SDI but it plods along just fine!
The van was tucked down the side of a shipping container and was starting to grow a little!
The van was growing a lot more on the inside! Rather mouldy!
First of all I gave the bumpers to a family friend for colour coding and removed the rear badges. Also got the detailers in to sort out the gross interior!
The van also got lowered! Went for a Darkside Development kit for the front and rear. Just fitted springs to the front but I'm really happy with the result!
I decided to paint the rear badge myself. I wanted to avoid breaking the badge apart so I opted for masking tape it up.
The result was not successful!
In the end I broke the badge apart, I drilled out the plastic rivets to do this. It was waaaayyyy simpler than I expected and wish I'd done it in the first place.
Eventually I'll get round to fitting this back on the van. In the mean time I had to buy these ridiculous seat covers! They're so bad they're good.
That's all for now. I have a retrofit aux kit that I need to install and some carpet and insulation to sort the back out with!

Here's a link to the crazy seat covers if you are interested!

They shipped them very quickly! No issues! I didn't carry out a full complete fit as I think that would have involved removing the seat itself however I was able to fit the covers enough for them to stay in place. No issues so far!

Parked up next to a Caddy that has those seat covers right now, certainly eye catching!

Fitted the new wheels today! 17" steelies, made to fit Mercedes Vito. Had to fit some spigot rings but other than that it was straight forward.
Also got a new addition for the keys, Caddy keychain!

I’ve got the same key ring but mine says ‘caddy’ in it. Think they’re available from eBay.

It was a birthday present. Pretty sure Celtic is right, you'll find them on eBay.

Re: Ddraeg's Low & Slow SDI
Stripped out the old mouldy ply lining and started cleaning out the inside. Discovered the first owner must have been a plasterer, lots of cleaning to do!
Purchased some flashband because I'm too cheap to buy proper sound deadening. I'll put it in once it's clean.

Ddraeg's Low & Slow SDI
Got a bit of work done on the van this weekend. After scrubbing all the filth out that was hidden beneath the old ply we fitted flashband to act as sound deadening. I'm happy with the results, the van is definitely less echoey and rattley. I can't compare the results to proper sound deadening but I'm pleased.
We also set about painting the bolt covers for the wheels.
I removed the rear threshold to give it a good scrubbing. Turned out alright but now I can see all the scuffs and damage on it!
And finally I added the required van mascot. He's been with me through a few of my previous cars. Meet Erwin the stingray.

Re: Ddraeg's Low & Slow SDI
Got a bit done over the bank holiday.
Wind deflectors fitted.
Insulation added to the floor and a few of the cavities.
Split a set of headlights I picked up and started painting them.
Fitted the painted caps back to my wheels!
Time to order more insulation!

Re: Ddraeg's Low & Slow SDI
Got the headlights back together and on the van finally!
I didn't have any ratchet straps as the guide I followed suggested. So whilst the stedflex set I duct taped the lights together. Seems to have worked though!
Also fitted some roof bars. As the prefacelift SWB doesn't have a rear mounting point I had to drill it out. Looks so much better than having the two in the centre though.
I've also made a start on modelling the inside roughly using SolidWorks. This isn't 100% accurate as I couldn't be bothered modelling the van exactly but it will give me a good idea of the interior.
