Hopefully brooneyes solution will work. I found that CarPlay would drop out if using either usb extensions or cheap usb leads from the Headinit. I ended up buying a belkin usb lead which was only a couple of quid more than a cheapy. No problems since :)

Swapped out the long cheap iPhone cable I was using for an apple one and that's sorted it! Thanks guys

Thanks Liam, getting closer to finishing things off on the inside. Going to try tackle painting the light grey trim and headliner next!

Fitted some MK5 Gti pedals today... a lot of messing around trying to get the accelerator pedal in but they’re in! (Excuse the dirty mat)

Hi mate, got the kit from Simply Split Charge.. they’ve got loads of different kits on their online store.
I went for this one after seeing it posted on the forum. It comes with everything you need, even a drill bit and screws to fix the fuse box. The instructions are really detailed and easy to followImage

After a long wait these finally arrived from eBay.. Need to figure out how to connect the aux port as it’s got an input for a RCD310 cable.. The USB port also seems to disconnect my apple car play connection after a minute or so but there’s still power.. So a little tweaking to do but at least they look better than blanksImage

Don't know if this will help but I found that if I used an after market cable on my CarPlay USB it would cut out after a few mins then I was told that the CarPlay like if you use the original iPhone cable to plug in. ,I got a original cable and all works well now , just in case
