Josh’s maxi air ride build
Moving my thread from Newby to build thread.
Picked up van a month or so ago off ebay. Loads of cool bits on but also lots and lots and lots of bodges.
1.6 tdi caddy maxi
2011
75k miles
Remap to 140
I can’t bare to put all the awful bits on display but here’s the van and I’ll update progress soon!

Pair or nice seats- maybe gti or some s lines
Front and rear inner arches
Standard air box

Re: Josh’s maxi air ride build
So today we spent fitting the gti seats. Some one had fitted some type r seats. Nice seats just not to my taste. And I must say I am very please. The drivers seats needs to have the bolster on drivers side re done but these were a steal and I have the rear seats as well so have loads of spare fabric! So here’s 50% of the way through
And here’s a ropey photo of both in.
So tomorrow will be vaxing the seats and then finish the ply lining in the back.
For those that haven’t seen the load bay when I picked it up
I’ll post up load bay when we’re done tomorrow!

Re: Josh’s maxi air ride build
So here’s my first attempt at lining the van.
Relocated all the air ride gubbings under the seats (when I say me I mean my extremely talented mate)
The van is being used for transport of my race bike so it’s no rolls Royce but a whole heap better then when it started.
Thinking the tank will be relocated under the van next year when we’ve done some more research.

Painting probably not a good idea as it will chip easy. Fabric your be constantly cleaning it. Couple guys have used UPOL trim spray paint with success, for now take it off put it in the bath and scrub. It will surprise how clean it will come up. If it’s got raised bits from scratches. Just use a gentle scotch pad.

Looking good that Josh, did you spend much time on the bodywork? Great job on the interior

Re: Josh’s maxi air ride build
Thanks man. Nope i bought the van like it! The paint is mad in the sun! It’s good but needs some tlc. Things like the door shuts need re doing. But that’s because I’m picky and I know it’s there!Philt32 wrote:Looking good that Josh, did you spend much time on the bodywork? Great job on the interior

Also needs the front wings and bumper re doing as they have quick release clips on it and I hate them. So will likely be getting done over the winter. Main plain is to sort all interior and wheels this year.
Interior took a while to do but when you’ve done and it’s all wiped down it makes such a difference !
