self inflating air mattress and you can have comfort and not have to lose space in the rear of the van - roll it up and put it away when u dont need it

Re: Tp's Caddy conversion
It’s not pretty but hopefully it’ll do the job. I’ve built it in two sections so if I still need to use it to love stuff around I can just remove a section...

Re: Tp's Caddy conversion
Made heaps of progress today. Chuffed it’s all working out!
So... bed ply on.
Then thw start of a pull out draw for coffee and storage
Magnetic curtains went up today too.
And finally just before dark, a coat of absolute black.
A lot of it is very much rough around the edges. Plan is to throw it together as I’ve done now, re build it in the future but with a week until we set off to do the North Coast 500 I’ve nae had much choice.
Also was chatting with my neighbour about coil overs, he’s persuaded me to investigate lower springs and new dampeners (not sure if that’s what you call them? Bit in the middle of the spring) and potentially the lowering rear end from darkside or an axle flip. All of which i have absolutely no idea on and will probably come next year when I can afford that and some 18” alloys!
Next job is power...
The USB port into the radio continues to be intermittent and to add to my 12v power torment the loom to the cig lighter doesn’t seem to be throwing out power either. Very annoying!

Re: Tp's Caddy conversion
eibach lowering kit uses shorter front springs and pretty much the same rear axle fit thing as every other kit and u can keep standard shocks

Re: Tp's Caddy conversion
Couple of finishing touches...
I couldn’t make any sense out of trying to get the USB port to work from the head unit, nor could I get power from the coverage lighter loom so I decided to quite my loses and take power from the fuse box and use a double USB cig charger.
Next on the list was LED lights. I did a fair whack of research and came to the conclusion LED strip lights don’t take a great deal of power so in theory (famous last words) won’t drain the battery.
Electrical wiring baptism of fire... planned it out all on paper, bought a soldering iron electrical tape etc...
Taking power from the rear light, I wired it all up to a switch above the side door and put the stripping on the back of the top wood cladding.
When I was testing out before soldering all the parts I accident hit power to earth and blew the 7.5 fuse. I’d got so far and didn’t really want to give up given we’re departing on Friday so with a wee bit of googling I came to find using 10amp wasn’t going to destroy anything (hurra!) and I can nip to halford tomorrow and pick a new one up knowing it all works.
Chuffed to bits with this finishing touch.
Oh and we went to Ikea to buy a bed which fits perfect! So satisfying!
