Re: Tp's Caddy conversion
MegaVanMats sell insulation, specific for use in vehicles. This is the stuff I'm using at the moment. My dad has used it on his T5 camper and that's not had any issues!

Was one role enough for your van?Ddraeg wrote: ↑Wed May 30, 2018 7:58 pm MegaVanMats sell insulation, specific for use in vehicles. This is the stuff I'm using at the moment. My dad has used it on his T5 camper and that's not had any issues!

Re: Tp's Caddy conversion
I haven't finished mine yet. I used the leftovers my dad had from his van! I think I'm just gonna order the bigger (20m?) roll and see how I go. I'll be ordering that today but probably wont get chance to fit it till next weekend.
Not entirely sure how much my dad had leftover but I'd guess maybe 5m. I managed to do the smaller rear door lower section, lower section of the sliding door and the entire lower section of the drivers side (no sliding door on that side). I did two to three layers in each area aswell. Take a look at my build thread that might explain better than I have.

Yeah I've actually been following your thread from the start! Hadn't realised it was you until you suggested I took a look!
Megavanmats is just 10 minutes down the road from me so I'm going to head over there at lunch to take a look/buy some. Thanks for your help again - That insulation will no doubt save me doing it again in the future

Hey how did your trip to MegaVanMats go? Did you manage to pick up some insulation? I haven't ordered mine yet!

Chap said I’d only need 8 meters but I think after doing the floor and wheel arches I might need some more.
Stuff a nightmare to cut!

Re: Tp's Caddy conversion
I decided to just use the foil bubble wrap for the floor. I wasn't sure how well regular insulation would work or fit underneath. You gonna ply line over it?
It is a pain to cut! A friend mentioned using a bread knife?! I didn't try it so I can't vouch lol.
Have you just done one layer there? You will defo fit a few layers in the cavities!

Re: Tp's Caddy conversion
Progress today! I decided to go single layer with the van insulation - the chap at the place said not to pack it as it works better when it’s not packed right, 8 meters was just enough!
Ply line will go in next and then the frame building can begin! Only got 3 weeks until we head off to do the north coast 500 so I need to get a move on.

Re: Tp's Caddy conversion
Thanks! The bed admittedly is going to be slightly thrown together and not quite as fancy as many that I’ve seen! So long as it does the job though.Ddraeg wrote:Cladding looks excellent mate! Cracking job. Interested to see your bed construction!
