Highland Caddy

Hi everyone.

When I first purchased my black 2014 Caddy I had a few little mods in mind, new alloys, carpet out the rear, and maybe push it with a new RCD-510 DAB, then I became a member of Caddy2k.com As I read all the amazing builds on here the mod list grew and grew I have finally decided to make a little build thread myself.

As doing these little mods to my van has become a good pass time and something I'm enjoying learning about but not the most experienced with vehicle modifications I thought making a thread you guys would help me out with some of it

So expect some noob questions and posts but if anything a laugh.



Managed the 13 hour drive home from London (always a good start) The start of the Highland Caddy

First came the18" Golf R Pretoria Style Wheels in Hyper Silver, first mistake as I wanted them in the gunmetal grey, my fault for looking at the picture and not reading the add. Once they were on I quite liked them so just kept them anyway, maybe get a paint in the future.



Then I got the Caddy a new front radiator grill, not 100% sure what these come from originally but I do like the gloss with the chrome strips. Took me most of the morning to fit this as I had to remove the bumper but what took me longest was getting the VW badge off very frustrating that was. Added the R on the grill but I'll be removing that when I'm home next.

Started on the rear next. When I did this I wasn't a member on here so didn't think anyone would want to see the sound deadening and the dodo mat I wrapped the back in so never took any photos, we all know what a empty shell in a Caddy looks like though. I ordered enough to wrap a maxi so really went to town with it and stuck it everywhere I could. from what I've seen on here I might have went a little overboard with it

Next was the carpet. First I covered the shell that would be showing once the ply was back on, wrapped the ply and also did the roof panel as well. Added some metal strips for a little protection while my bike is in the back. Pretty pleased with the result. I also added some LED lights on the roof. picked them up from amazon for around £20, wired into the light that's already in the back

I added a couple of hangers on the back door to hang my MTB helmet and shoes. Looking for some ideas with how to stop my bike falling over but would prefer not to take the front wheel off every time.

Picked up some checkered plate rubber flooring to cover the wooden floor, wasn't very expensive and cleans easy for when Iv'e got my bike in the back. I've also got a floor mat that came with my 2 front floor mats that I put on when i've nothing in the bad.




The mat doesn't quite fit because of the wood I covered the wheel arches with but in time it's fitting better and better, cut a little bit off to make it fit round.

That was my basic mod list finished, I added some wind deflectors last week and a rear bumper protector.

Nothing yet, I do have a stand I use for washing it and the arm on that would do the job nicely if I attach one to the side ply. I have also come across a small clamp that are meant to be pretty good and would look a lot tidier. Not 100% sure what one to go for because the small clamp doesn't look that sturdy.

Few other little things I've done and waiting to do. Paint the brake caliper's, They were't in bad shape but a little rub down and a paint goes a long way. I was going to go with yellow as my black Audi S3 had a nice set of yellow caliper's on it, looked really good but they were to slow down a 300BHP car not my 140 caddy. Went with black instead just to keep with the black theme.
I definitely underestimated how long this would take me, many hours scrubbing away but over all worth it

I also have the lowering kit waiting at home for me but as I'm not very confident doing this myself I'll wait for some help from a family member. Out of everythingI'm going to do to my caddy this is the mod I'm most looking forward to getting on.

Don’t go to hard. Mine ride good now. Took a little adjusting but got there. Start at 10 click. I’m on 14 towards soft. Rides well nice and corners well. Copper greese the O locking nuts. Or they will seize together. Only grease these. Give them 4-5 days to settle before your re adjust the height.

Thanks bud, I'll keep all this in mind while fitting. Your Caddy is sitting nice, good height. The alloys really set it off as well, I'm already looking at getting a similar set.
