Re: My new Facelift Caddy
Well got couple of more bits carpeted today.
Decided to make use of the space behind the drivers seat in the side. Already sound proofed and sealed so carpeted the back in black cloth and cut a section out of my new wooden panel.
Don't think it looks to bad plus an extra bit of storage.
Need to cover my rear door panels and sound proof the side door plus make the panel for it.

Great looking interior, that's pretty much the finish I'm looking for.
Top job, Autokraft!

Re: My new Facelift Caddy
Pegged you have pm.
Got around to finishing my rear doors.
Covered my speakers with mesh and tacked it in place.
All covered and back in place. Would never know a speakers there as carpet will not push in because of mesh.
Both finished and speakers all working.
Just my side door panel to make now then the roof.

Re: My new Facelift Caddy
After much sanding and plastic filler the mk6 mirrors are good enough to put on.
Got them to fold as well which added to getting the cover to fit spot on.
Just got to fit my Blue tinted mirror glass now.

Re: My new Facelift Caddy
Did not take pics when I did them but very simple once you get the two mirrors a parts. First one only took me 20 minutes to get it all mounted and wiring completed. Got the second done quicker. Hardest part is getting the spring and retainer back on but easy once you have done it.

Re: My new Facelift Caddy
So to confirm that's mk6 mirrors on caddy base? Then graft the piece in to make a good fit?

Re: My new Facelift Caddy
I just separated the mirrors off the mounts. Only mod that needs to be done is to make the hole in the mk6 mirror bigger to go onto the caddy mount then use the spring and spring washer to mount it. All the plastics line up and then use the caddy mirror cap inner part to fill the gap.Banditbarron wrote:So to confirm that's mk6 mirrors on caddy base? Then graft the piece in to make a good fit?
From the picture you can see the spring and spring washer. There are four prongs holding it in place. I just got a screw driver under them and levered them out. Comes off with a bit of force from the spring so I got some string and run it through the mount where the cable goes. Once they are off they both separate.
Remove the cabling but make a note of the connector pins. The mk6 mirror mounts from underneath. I got a cone cutter and drilled the alloy mount from the top to separate.
The caddy mount is wider so drilled out the hole in the mirror until it sat all the way down. To get the spring and spring washer back on I used a but G clamp. Find a socket the same as the spring washer. Tape the edge of the washer to the socket then use the g clamp to compress the spring and locate the spring washer.

Re: My new Facelift Caddy
Not put the Ariel in the mirror. Bonded it to the inside of the door and works just as good.
Got both of them fitted and tested. Indicators coded in and working also.
Should also be dropping my new wheels off at the powder coater on Thursday.
