Mk5 GTI Seats
So. Bought some Mk5 Seats from a wrecking yard. Brought them home, put them in, went to buckle up AND.....no seat belt buckles....FAIL [UNAMUSED FACE] and feeling like a tard (retard)
The guy that sold them too me basically said too bad and wanted $165 AUD for second hand ones....I don't think so.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what buckles will fit these seats. Will standard Mk5 golf ones fit?
Please help! I'm dying to get my arse in these seats!

Re: Mk5 GTI Seats
Can you not use the ones off the original seats?
Edit....Looks like they are different. Caddy seems to mount from the side where as MK5 mount from the bottom.

Re: Mk5 GTI Seats
you can fit your original Caddy ones, but will need to bend the stem to fit in the location of the GTI seats, caddy are straight, MK5 Golf etc ones are 90 degrees so will need reshaped, the reason the breakers want so much and remove them is for the electronics inside/seat belt tensioner, most Caddys don't have them.
Once reshaped bolt through base of seat (where the original MK5 Golf seat belt buckle stem would fit) with a suitable bolt & nut.

Hey Dan!
What are pyros? Did you get the buckle from VW or a wrecker?

Pyrotechnics. I thought they were going to have them or tensioners/electronics but turns out they are pretty basic and so weren't expensive. Got them direct from a VW dealer.

Re: Mk5 GTI Seats
can I ask how much from main dealer? I made the same mistake on a set of sciroccos!!! they have the same buckle as Passat cc but the same seat frame as golf 2009 - 2013 so I think they are the same as Passat b6 or golf 6. part number starts with 3AA if anybody can confirm?

Re: Mk5 GTI Seats
My VW dealer is a bit useless. The cheapest he has is around $100 AUD. I've contacted a wrecker who is going to sell me a pair of seats for $150. I'll pull the buckles off and offload the seats. Seems the best option atm unless you can find a part no. for those buckles without pyros?

Re: Mk5 GTI Seats
Perhaps these will do?
RHD mk5 golf seat buckles listed in ETKA.
Left front 2 doors: 1K3 857 755 AE YLZ ~€45
Right front 2 doors: 1K3 857 756 BA YLZ ~€82
That one has the the belt warning contact in hence possibly the higher price.
There's many listed across the range but those should be ok.
Bolt: N 910 326 02 (need one per buckle)

Re: Mk5 GTI Seats
All sorted guy's! The guy at the wreckers took pity on me an have me a pair from a golf for free. So thankful. The difference between them and the gti buckles is that they are just a complete metal strap and the gti have the buckle attached to the strap by two bits of wire to allow them to flop around out of the way or close to you if needed. Its no issue though.
