Re: breaks
Mine came with 312mm discs as standard, these are same as golf gti, and I've just replaced the discs and pads with pagid stuff, mine is maxi life so think heaviest out there and running 152 bhp and find it stops nicely, I don't see any need to go bigger

Re: breaks
Upgrade to the 312mm discs, simple to do and effective, make sure your wheel diameter is 16inch or more tho, they won't fit under a standard steelie

Re: breaks
No you don't need new calipers, just the carriers type into ebay
There is a red set for sale at £85.00, just a case of swapping these and installing new discs

Re: breaks
It's very easy to upgrade from 288mm to 312mm, as said above all you need is the 312 carriers and 312 disks (some upgrade the brake dust shields too but you can get away with the old ones), the caddy calipers are the same as the GTI ones only they ain't painted red, I swapped the calipers too only because they looked better in red than the rusted ones on her.
