Barn door won't stay open!

Post by Joe90k »

As the title, if the van is parked on any sort of incline, the larger barn door (Left) will always slide out of the stay and close, most of the time hitting me in the back!

Is there a part I can change to sort it out? I guess its just worn bearing or clip?

Cheers,
Joe

Not sure if these are UK part numbers but 11 + 22 probably what you need.

The link is 7 years old, there's no doubt it's expired now.
What has failed on your door to cause it to stop staying open, have you looked?

It's either the hinge arm or the catch that has worn/shrunk and no longer holds the door tight enough.

Ok, I guess there's no way to know without replacing one.
Might as well start with the stop. The price from VW is a bit less than from the link you posted.

What size bit do I need for the bolts? Thought it would be T40 but it doesn't fit!

In case anyone wants to know, it's T45 for the van side catch holder and spline, M8 for the door side check strap.
