These were the Bigend bearings of cilinder 1 & 3 of our Caddy BLS-Engine: https://www.facebook.com/30265462646631 ... =1&theater
In the opinion of my mechanic are the bigend bearings the cause of many BLS-engine crashes
Our Caddy has now the bearings from the older engines (called Sputter bearings).

Re: Bls engine
I'm viewing a 130,000 mile Caddy (07) with a BLS engine tomorrow. Is there anything I should look for or ask the owner? Thanks.

Re: Bls engine
Caddy is back in my possession.
The donor Engine was a Mk4 Bora Tdi ASZ 130 with 98k on the engine, Cant really say much Its been mapped out with an economy remap and i have to say its 100 times better than my BLS engine ever was. Love having that extra bit of power, going for the bigger turbo and egr delete next.
Overall very happy with the results!

Re: Bls engine
Its good to know that an earlier mk4 platform engine will fit, did they say what the head gasket and bolts that were used plus any modifications they had to do to fit?

Re: Bls engine
He's used pretty much all the engine minus the rocker cover, Still running my turbo egr ect believe he also had to fabricate a few pipes.
It does belch out a bit of black smoke when the foot is flat due to having bigger injectors and my old turbo. Going to fit the pd 130 turbo and blank off the egr and that should sort it out.
If anyone is after any information give him a ring he's spot on!

Re: Bls engine
Had a problem with one of these engines before and it was No. 3 small end bearing had broken up. The guy that owned the car before was putting the wrong oil in to it. Took a bit of head scratching to find. Might be of some use to someone?
