Aircon fault. When it's on its off and when it's off its on.

Post by DynamoTightstar »

My AC blows hot when turned on and cold when turned off.

I've checked the comp and when turned on the clutch disengages and when turned off it engages. It's like the switch is back to front.

Could it be something simple like the polarity is the wrong way round?

Any help appreciated.

Does your control panel have an "AC" button, or an "ECON" button???

the AC button lights up when the AC is on.

the ECON button lights up when the AC is off.

Someone may have retrofitted something and have it coded wrong, or the panel is wrong for the car coding.

Our Touran has an ECON button, basically it be's "economical" by not running the AC compressor.
