Guys,
I have just purchased a 2011 ex NPower van. This comes with a slam lock, just for anyone not familiar with slam locks, like I was, they lock the door as soon as it's closed, no need for a key.
The problem I have is, apart from it being a bit of a pain, is that I only have one key and if I lock the key in the van then I am snookered. I have tried a few places for another to be cut but they need the security certificate in order for a key to be cut. Neither the seller of the van nor myself have this certificate.
Sorry for the waffle but just wanted to add a little detail, my question is does anyone know how do I disable the slam lock ?
I have had a look about the mechanism but don't see anything obvious,
Thanks,
Mark.

Re: Remove Slam Lock
Mine had these.
The key had a name on.
Contacted them and they sent me 2.
Put 1 in the ash tray and 1 on the spare key.
Has yours a name on the key?

Re: Remove Slam Lock
Surely proof of ownership of the vehicle should be more than enough for a new key to be cut?a8tdi wrote:I have tried a few places for another to be cut but they need the security certificate in order for a key to be cut. Neither the seller of the van nor myself have this certificate.
If it were me, I'd be contacting every government consumer department, as this is nothing short of blackmail.

Re: Remove Slam Lock
Thanks Guys,
The key has L4V on it and a few numbers.
I will contact the supplier of the lock and hopefully manage to get a spare..
However if anyone knows how to disable these locks that would be my preferred option..
Thanks for all the input.
