2016 lowering and wheels?
Hi all
New Caddy owner here so please be kind I pick up my 2016 caddy highline next week and look for info on lowering the newer caddys and what size wheels to go for. I will be my daily driver so will do around 18k miles a year, I won't have much weight in the back just some hand tools and my mountain bike from time to time.
Don't want it super low just a good daily driver so any info from people that have already done it would be great.
Cheers
Beanie

My 2017 van lowered with the 45mm Eibach kit. Standard VW Canyon alloys 17". Drives and handles better than when it was new now it's lowered 45mm.

Great just what I was after, cheers for the photo. I have seen the 45mm kit so will get that one. 17's look good to. Your van looks lovely

18" lowered with a JOM coilovers and axle flip kit. Practical a little more bouncy than I was hoping for on harsh bumps but they were about a quarter of the price of Bilsteins.

Mine on Eibach and 19" wheels, not as bouncy as coilovers. Haven't noticed much difference from 18"- 19". I do about 18000 miles a year and carry a bit of weight.

What come with the eibach kit? Just springs? Do these replace the leaf slings on the rear?

You get the front springs and the rear axle flip kit, you move the springs from above to below the axle. The rear shackles are the adjustable to lower by 45mm minimum but can go a lot lower.

Re: 2016 lowering and wheels?
My preference is an adjustable coil over kit with the shorter rear dampers included. Lowered to 60mm with 18" wheels looks spot on!
VMAXX is a decent kit but around £400
Blueline is a cheaper alternative at around £270

Re: 2016 lowering and wheels?
Watch it with the shackle kits. My advice is get a kit from darkside because they do different plates now that allow for every type of leaf spring you may encounter, and if it turns out you need offset plate to centralise the wheels Darkside will let you return the plates you don't need and give you the ones you need to get it right.
Also you might find that If you have a maxi then you might be on the highest setting on the shackles to sit level with the fronts on springs. Although plenty low enough for me with 19's looks just right without being decked into the speed bumps and pot holes.
Darkside kit plus Eibach or H&R springs will be £300 inc VAT Same price that the Eibach kit costs.

For Scrabby67:
Would you be able to attach a photo of the underneath rear suspension setup (after being lowered)?
Did you cut down the bump stops?
Where did you buy the kit from?
Thanks in advance
